Conventional nail head shape, best suited to applications requiring higher pullthrough resistance
D Head
Offers similar performance to round head nails and enables nails to be collated hard up against each other
RounDrive
Allows for tight collation and ensures much greater holding power and pull through resistance
Dome
Aesthetically pleasing result, ideal for decking
CladFast®
The round offset head allows better holding and offers aesthetic appearance
T Head
Moderate pull through resistance with limited damage to timber surface
Finish Head
Very fine head with little damage to timber surface.
Shank Types
Smooth
The most common shank type, providing excellent holding power in most construction applications
Screw/Twist
Requires less driving force than ring shank nails, excellent for hardwood applications such as pallets
Ring
Requires the greatest driving power and provides superior withdrawal resistancein softwood timbers
Point Types
Diamond
The most common and easiest to drive however may contribute to splitting timbers in some applications
Blunt Chisel
Almost eliminates timber splitting however not suitable for clinching applications

Corrosion Resistance Classes
The Australian Standard for fastener performance (AS3566) was introduced in 1988, amended in 1990 and ratified in 2002. It currently lists four classes of corrosion resistance.
- Class 1 For general interior use where corrosion resistance is of minor importance
- Class 2 For general interior use where significant levels of condensation occur
- Class 3 For general exterior applications including treated timbers (not suitable for external coastal regions)
- Class 4 For external use in marine and moderately severe corrosive environments, generally within 1km from marine surf, although topography and/or strong prevailing winds may extend this distance
